I LOVE my Canon 50mm f1.4 USM Prime Lens.  My first exposure to using a 50mm lenses was back when I was a high school photographer; back then I didn't appreciate them as I do now.  This is one of Canon's most useful 50mm lens in my opinion.  The f1.8 is a typical kit lens and has been around over 20 years and is great for the beginning photographer but this is the lens to buy when it's time to move up.  It's faster and better built than the f1.8 and sells for around $330 new on AMAZON; the f1.2 will set you back about $1300.  If you photograph anything that moves in the available light then the lens is for you.

I LOVE it for its size and lightweight; coming in at 2 inches length and about 10.2 oz.  As a Travel Photographer, I feel that the size and weight make it ideal as a travel lens; it's easier to carry around all day and not intrusive like larger lenses can be. This allows you to be able to take images when a larger lenses might make someone uneasy.  When space is tight and lightweight is important, this lens might be the right one for you.

I LOVE the lens for the bokeh and the sharpness (LOL, yes I know they're completely opposites) that I can achieve when I'm shooting portrait or detail oriented photography with it.  The lens lets in an enormous amount of light at 1.4 and creates a beautiful bokeh; great for artistic images, night time street photography or portraiture.

In the very near future I'll be getting some new equipment; please revisit my blog for more tech reviews.
